Ben Pest opens the EP with ‘What’s with 1996’, a funky warehouse roller with a vibe not unlike classic Bangalter jams from the mid 90’s. After Ben’s storming EP on BONUSROUND005, he delivers once again with this fine track, which really captures the raw energy of his infamous hardware live show. UK sample-maestro Michael Forshaw follows with a tuff tribal techno workout. ‘A Mild Stroke’ will fit in well with modern house and techno sets alike, the sample of an excitable American evangelical stroke victim has to be heard to be believed… Bizarre, hilarious and twisted, one thing is for sure it will bring some smiles and movement to the dance floor! Bonus Round co-conspirer Al Tourettes is back on the flipside with some heavy UK bass pressure. Al has been seriously busy since his last appearance on Bonus Round and returns with a more refined and weighty sound, Vogel-esque synths and a pummelling bassline take this track down the rabbit hole and out the other side! Drawing influences from (proper) electro and melding this with his new dubstep-laced rhythms, ‘Body Logic’ is pure class and will appeal to DJs of the future garage sound and electro fans alike. Rounding off the EP is Rag ‘n’ Bone label boss No Yeah No. ‘Ride it Baby’ brings a certain familiar house classic bang up to date with hard jacking beats and cheeky edits. Gremino first came to our attention with the utterly stunning track ‘Shining’ which has turned up on mixes by the likes of Jam City and Dusk & Blackdown. Based in Finland, he has created an EP for Rag & Bone which smoothly counterpoints a whole range of influences from ripped up Funky, dangerous Garage, bad ass Broken beat and echoes of 2-step, all fused together with a warped and inimitable style all of his own. For one, ‘Hyper’ and ‘It’s Working’ see Funky vibes and chunky low slung breaks collide to great effect. ‘Bleak Rocking’ displays Gremino’s pedigree as a producer by re-awakening the vibe of early Wizzbit/ Geeneus tracks from a time when 2-step, grime and dubstep were all just one big amorphous mass. We are very proud to be back and present the second volume in the ongoing series of V/A entiled "Make Your Mark On...". The first one went out with a bang ealier this fall and this time expect no less. 4 excellent tracks of both old and new faces... First out is legendary London producer and dj, Controlled Weirdness, head of the Unearthly imprint. This one is a bass-heavy breakbeat-techno-rave piece with heavy influences of the old-school rave. Welcome on board... Second, we are very happy to see another London producer, Benjwahbeats, return to the i-o-inc camp. Benjwahbeats was the master-mind behind the La Purga EP (i-o-digi003) released earlier this year. This time he returns with his own take on Dubstep and its a big one! Third is the Kiev based duo Valta & Minikin (former Ottosiderpunk) who runns the incredible Kievbass night in.... yeah, you guessed it, Kiev. Their track Champion Breakfast has allready had some really good dj support but on this ep it turns up in a slightly modified version. UK-funky-ish-bassy-techno. And last bu not least its Manchester based Mazzula who also makes his debut on the label, previously he's released on labels such as Bass-Gun and Data-Trace.
